Pilot-Operated Solenoid Valves

1/4" to 3" FNPT or BSPT
5 to 6,000 psig
-420°F to +500°F

Atkomatic offers Pilot-Piston Operated valves in a wide range of sizes, materials and pressure ratings as shown in the chart below. The solenoid on the normally-closed Pilot-Piston valve only opens a small pilot orifice in the piston, this unbalances the pressure within the valve allowing the line pressure differential to lift the piston and therefore open the main valve seat. A minimum 5 psi differential pressure must be maintained to open the valve and keep it open.

When the solenoid is de-energized, the plunger assembly drops onto the pilot seat, allowing pressure to build up above the piston. This, assisted by the pilot spring, closes the valve.

Some applications for the Pilot-Operated Valves include:

bulletFill line for cooking tubs
bulletCommercial washing machines
bulletSteam cleaning equipment
bulletHigh-pressure car wash equipment
bulletWater cleaning of hot metal
bulletMain line, high flow process systems
NOTE: These valves must be mounted in a horizontal pipeline with the solenoid coil on top.

Notes:

* Indicates valve always has a Class H Coil as a standard feature. Series 7000, 8000 and 35000.
(1) These valve series require a double-wound coil and Type "R" Relay for pressures above 1,500 psi. Consult Factory.
(2) Normally-Closed ONLY.

Maximum Pressure Differentials are for normally-closed valves only. Consult the full catalog, local distributor or factory for normally-open valves.
